Gerald Milnes is the Folk Art Coordinator at Augusta Heritage Center of Davis and Elkins College. He has produced 12 films about West Virginia folklife, culture and history. Gerry was named West Virginia Film Maker of the Year in 2007, by the West Virginia Film Commission. He is presently a member of the musical group Gandydancer, and they have performed at the Library of Congress, the Kennedy Center, across the United States and Britain. He has been published by Alfred Knopf, The University Press of Kentucky, and the University of Tennessee Press. He has produced over 20 audio recordings of West Virginia traditional music on the Augusta label. Gerry has been a speaker for the West Virginia Humanities Council, and has presented papers at the Appalachian Studies Association Conference and the American Folklore Society’s annual meeting. Becky Hill is a percussive dancer, banjo player and aspiring dance caller. She is an Appalachian Forest Heritage Area AmeriCorps member with Augusta Heritage Center where she works on The Mountain Dance Trail. She has performed at the Newport Folk Festival with the Seeger Clogging All-Stars and has had the opportunity to work with Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble, Good Foot Dance Company, and Rhythm in Shoes. She has won several flatfoot dance competitions throughout Appalachia including Clifftop Appalachian Stringband Festival. She is constantly inspired by old-time “flatfoot” and “buck dancers” and hopes to carry on their steps and stories.
